Blog: January 26. Another great ride

It’s Saturday night, and because I have a very busy Sunday I’ll blog tonight. I had a free morning AGAIN, so I loaded up one of Marty’s routes and headed south to tick Killiekrankie Mountain off the Adventure Challenge list. It’s on The Horseshoe, so even I had a good chance of finding it. It rained on and off for the last week, so I wasn’t sure how slippery and boggy it would be. I…

Marty H’s Dragon Ride

Dragon ride With two days to go riding in the summer holidays with mates, some new riding was needed. With both north and south extensively covered last year it only left west. West in January can get a bit hot and bothersome, so plenty of zigzagging was in order to keep the ride in the New England area and hopefully cool, and the finished course looked a bit like a dragon’s head. A night to…

Blog: January 20. A great idea

Graham Whipp was the only one turned up for the ride to Dalmorton, and we had a great time. The day was perfect and we managed to tag up with Dave and Karen Ramsay, and Karen’s parents Bob and Jeanette, at Buccarumbi. From there we barrelled up to the tunnel, grabbed a few pics, then Whippie and I dawdled on home via Chaelundi and Juan’s Cafe in Dorrigo. We were following Marty H’s disc routes…

Blog: January 13. A ride next Saturday.

After last week’s debacle with the spark plug jammed in the air intake I took the bike out again yesterday and had another crack at Marty’s GPS route. What a day! What a great ride. The weather was perfect, and the Dominator sung along like a little sewing machine (it feels as though it has as much horsepower as a sewing machine sometimes). I purred along and had a ball. I didn’t shoot a single…

Blog: January 6. How embarrassment!

It’s a new year, and although I’m not sentimental about such things, I hope this last weekend is the start of how this year will run for me. I very seldom get to ride just for the sake of riding. The overwhelmingly huge majority of my time on a bike is tied to work. That allows me to do some great rides and enjoy some incredible bikes, but there’s always a lot of responsibility goes…

February 1 and 2. Looking for riders.

Marty Hardcore was here today and mentioned he’s heading down to the Old Bull ride at Wauchope on February 1 and 2. He’s looking for a posse to ride with him, so if you’re keen, track him down and let him know. You can e-mail here, if you like, and I’ll pass it on. I’m not sure if they’ll still be called ‘Old Bull’ rides this year. TB – owner of Old Bulls – has…
