Blog: March 31. Another busy week

It’s Sunday arvo and I’ve had a day at home. Yay. It’s something that’s been all too rare lately. I had to work out at Mt Seaview (just near Ginger’s Creek) this weekend, and thanks to Chris Urquhart being such a nice bloke I was able to get all I needed done on Saturday morning. Chris stopped on his way through Coffs on Friday and we had a coffee and I got a heap of…

Blog: March 24. D’oh.

I was unexpectedly gifted a weekend off, so for the first time in a long time – I think maybe two years – I dragged the 125 out of the shed, scraped the cobwebs off it, oiled the airfilter, pumped up the tyres and went for a ride. I can’t remember when I last wore a motocross helmet and boots. I confess I didn’t go for the neckbrace and knee braces, but it bought back…

A Marty H story

Craig’s ride After finishing work Saturday morning I was greeted with the message that Craig was keen to go for a quick blast north into some traction. It’s been wet and he wanted to give the clay around home the slip as he still had road tyres on. So Sherwood Forest was the destination, and we even decided to ride through Coffs to miss the slippery bits, but after five minutes of highway I was…

Blog: March 17. A quickie

I’m in the middle of a tough run of work, so this is just a quickie to say hi and save you all sending e-mails asking where’s my blog this week. On Saturday morning I took the Dominator for a run to The Pines picnic area near Scott’s Head. What a great spot! It meant a little bitumen to get to the start of the forest road, but it was well worth it. A couple…

Another good’n from Pottsy

Everyone seems to have been pretty quiet lately and there’s not many stories from adventures anywhere so, I’ve had to go out and try and get lost yet again . It’s been over a month since the last time I was out dancing with the DR and today was the day to break the drought. After going over maps on the dining room table while having breakfast I still had no idea where I was…

Another great yarn from Karen Ramsay

The ‘plan’ was to stay overnight with Wilson and family, do five locations for the Adventure Challenge on Saturday, and be back home Saturday night so I could do some work on Sunday. Never mind the radar showing rain pushing up past Port Macquarie into places we planned on going… So Friday after work we scootled down the highway to Wilsons. At 7.00am Saturday the radar was still showing the same thing, but Dave was…

Blog: March 9. Back from Victoria

It’s Saturday night and I’m pretty much shattered. I’ve been in Victoria riding the ‘Tenere Tragics’. Clubby and his people from TrailZone magazine turned on a great four days of dualsporting. I was there as the guest of Yamaha, so I was with some great people and able to ride some fabulous bikes. First up was the 2014 XTZ1200 Super Tenere with electronically-adjustable suspension. What a bike. It took some time to settle into, and…

Blog: March 2. The new XTZ1200

I’m in Victoria riding the 2014 XTZ1200 Super Ténéré. That’s obviously pretty cool, but even more than usual, because this is the electronic-suspension model and it won’t be released in Australia for some months yet. Tomorrow I head out on the fourth annual Ténéré Tragics ride, and although it’s very dry and dusty here in the Victorian high country, it should be a great ride. There’s a heap of great people I know well on…
