Blog: September 16. Time for another One-day Challenge.

TFwithDominatorI finally got some time on the Dominator yesterday. It seems as though I’m back to riding once every couple of months at the most, and that’s if I’m lucky.

I was supposed to go for a lap in the Sunny Corner Trailbike Rally, but my mate for the ride had a problem and couldn’t make it. It was always going to be expensive and a very rushed trip, so when Toby couldn’t make it, I decided to give it a swerve as well.

In any case, I went for a little dawdle in the forest around home and, unsurprisingly, ended up covering some of the ground we covered in the first One-day Challenge. It reminded me how good that day was. Dodging WRC rally cars, I decided not to fight it and headed up to Dorrigo, had a coffee at Juan’s, then headed home through Brooklana, Ulong, Lowanna and Coramba. It was a really glorious day and I enjoyed the ride immensely. I shot a short video link for work, cruised through the fabulous country around home and generally felt great about things. I was thinking that would probably be my only ride for the next two months, when I thought how we’re well overdue for another One-day Challenge.

So here we go. September 28. That’s only two weeks away. I don’t have a challenge section, or any idea where we’ll go, but having named a date I’ll now have to get myself together and get the rest of it sorted. And I can look forward to another ride in a couple of weeks.

Excellent.

As we did last time, e-mail me if you’d like to join the ride and I’ll start a mailling list. We’ll kick off from, and finish at, the McDonald’s just south of Coffs. Be there with a full tank and ready to ride at 7.30am. If you have ideas for a route or challenge, I’m happy to hear them.

This brings up a sad point. One of the girls on the first One-day Challenge, Caroline, has had a serious accident. I only know what Marty H has been able to pass on in a couple of hurried phone calls, but she was serious enough to need airlifting to Sydney and spent time in an induced coma. She’s back on the road to recovery, but spare a thought for Caroline and Dean, and let’s hope they’re both back on the bikes again soon. When they’re ready we should have a social gathering somewhere and share a yarn and a smile or two.

That’ll do for today. Roll on the September 28!

Looking at your photo. Didn’t know Klim pants had a bum flap. Looks serious anyhow.
More seriously though, Fancy Caroline trying to upstage Karen in the crash department. Just rang Craig & he says she’s well on the mend so hopefully she’ll be on her feet when we come down to visit her on the 28th for the challenge ride. Wishing them all the best.

Not good news on Caroline, if you hear there is anything we can do to help please let us know.

As for Dave “watch me head butt a tree/kangaroo and dodge stray cattle” compare the girls efforts.

Should be able to put me down for the 28th, sounds like fun.

I can think of nothing I would rather be doing than getting the new KTM 1190 even dirtier than it was after the Condamine Rd ride I did a few weeks back with Dave and Karen. I will have to try and keep the big kato under control this time Karen. No more unplanned excursions through ditches, drains or over boulders. It may have looked like I did it on purpose, but I can assure you I am still trying to get the stain off the seat. Video evidence yet to follow.
Count me in for Coffs Harbour .
