Blog: September 15. A shortie

It’s Saturday morning and I assume the WRC is hooning through the forests around home. That makes it a good time to either stay out of the forest, or maybe find a good vantage point to prop and watch the incredible driving.

I’ve been riding the KLR in the Hunter Valley for work this week. I fitted a Barrett pipe which changed the character of the bike a lot, and with the new Teknik suspension it’s starting to feel quite ridable. There’s a ways to go with it yet, but it’s heading in the right direction.

The Hunter Valley was nice riding. I was chasing around a batch of 1200s, so the KLR had a reasonable workout, including a bit of a strop from Coolah to Moonan Flat long the road at 130kph for most of the way. It’s seems quite comfortable with that kind of riding.

This coming weekend is the Scrapheap Challenge ride. I’m still planning to head up to Nymboida on Saturday morning and come back Saturday arvo. I haven’t organised anything yet – as usual – but I’ll have a look at this week. Knowing me I’ll make up something on Friday night.

Dave Ramsay is leading a ride out of Nymboida at 10.00am, so we’ll have to be up there by then. Anyone with any ideas should speak up.

I have a fair bit going on again this week. Hopefully next week I’ll have some pics from the Scrapheap to share. Those guys build crazy bikes!
