Sad news for Bellingen and all riders

IMG_6403A great friend to the motorcycling community passed away on Friday, November 14.
Carl Foster, 84, the owner of the BP service station opposite the Federal Hotel in Hyde Street Bellingen, has left us and will be much missed.
Carl, his wife June and their family, have operated the servo in Bellingen for 60 years, and have always been especially supportive of motorcyclists. If you ride a bike, you’ve probably purchased fuel, oil, spares, or borrowed tools from, or stored your bike at, Foster’s servo. Carl even used to offer to open early or stay open late if he thought he could help riders caught on long trips.
Carl’s sons Matthew and Chris tell how he’d often come home from the servo and share stories of riders’ he’d chatted to during the day, and share the stories of their adventures.
He was a great asset to the community of Bellingen and all travellers in the region.
Carl will be missed, and our sad sympathies go out to Carl’s family, and especially Chris and Matthew who ride with us so often.
