WE’RE RUNNING ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20TH!
SUNDAY! Not frigging MONDAY!
A communication from the Secret Squirrel…
‘Longest Day…so, we start as normal at Sawtell headland at 5.40am official sunrise and follow the traditional Longest Day route all the way along Baldersleigh Road, making sure we navigate safely past Jake’s Jump, Marty’s Mistake and Tom’s Take-out to Bundarra.
From there, if we hightail it to Tingha then wobble up to Pindari Dam along the VSM DR route
from a few months ago, it’s a a great scenic run.
Then we can loop around to Glen Innes, where we might put on the nosebag for a feed. To finish the day we can ride back down the old Grafton Road – via a few Secret Squirrel trails – back to Coffs.
It’ll be a bit shorter than the last pretend Longest Day ride we did two years ago, but with some more scenic roads. Time should be similar, though. There’ll be lower, more sensible average speeds.
There’s been some rain out that way recently, so the countryside is looking at its best. It”l be a challenge to keep it all together still and make the end.’
IMPORTANT POINT! TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR EVERYONE, WE’RE RUNNING ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20TH.
Okay, Dave and Karen Ramsay are in, so am I. Let us know if you want to tag along. It should be a low-stress, fun day. I’ll see if I can get a couple of goofy awards together (we won’t run the risk of the The Great Hat Debacle. I think there are still McDonald’s customers receiving treatment after that one).
I rode through Tingha and Pindari Dam a few weeks ago. Here’s what we can expect…
