It’s Monday morning and I’ve had a busy week – and weekend – with work, so I haven’t done any riding and I don’t have much to report.
Work did send me out to see the folks at Ducati, and I met CEO Warren Lee for the first time.
I only mention it because after all these years I’m a bit surprised there’s someone who’s been in the Australian motorcycle business as long as Warren who I hadn’t met.
Warren’s an ex-Hawkesbury Club motocrosser and an incredibly nice bloke, and he had the exotically named L’Oreal Pierce, Ducati’s Marketing Coordinator, there as well, so it was a very pleasant morning spent amidst some impossibly exotic bikes.
Yes I am finally back in my office in Narrogin Western Australia, having enjoyed one of the best motorcycle rides I have had in a long time, thanks to your ‘Great Rides’ tracks.
Please find attached a couple of photos of the bike in one nice and one err… interesting spot. You were right about the concrete crossing – treacherous! Anyway no harm done.
The bike is still in Sydney and I plan to get back over to NSW before too long for another ride. It will probably be late autumn before I am back up your way and will get back in touch when I do.
Meanwhile I found your routes brilliant for the R1200GS and generally the ride was mentally relaxing while physically more challenging. The toughest bits were the 20 creek crossings (got the bike stuck in the third-last one and had to drag it around a bit) and the ride through from Bellwood to Wollombi (?) in the rain at dusk made me concentrate a bit.
And thanks again
Jeff also sent a couple of images from his ride…
I thought the one of Secret Squirrel driving the 4WD was hilarious, but the one of Secret Squirrel at the Coffs Stadium-cross was the best yet. I think Pottsy’s found his super hero alter ego.
PS: Pottsy saw the post and sent this:
