Blog: February 27. The KLR has a front brake!

At least I think it does.

Last week and this coming week are going to be high-pressure with work and no riding, so I dropped the KLR to Dan Vaughan and asked him to run an eye over it. With new chain and sprockets, new brake pads front and rear and a new, stainless front brake line, Dan assures me it now has a reasonable front brake.

I haven’t had a free moment to pick up the bike yet, but I’m hoping to grab it tomorrow. That’ll mean I can hammer through this week at my desk and head out for a day next weekend.

That’s the plan, anyway. I haven’t decided where I’ll go or which day, but those things aren’t all that important.

Marty Blake left a phone message inviting me on a ride this last Friday, but I was away for a few days and didn’t get the message until today (Sunday). I see on Facebook the rest of you have been out cutting laps here and there, so that’s good to see.

I hope to spend a couple of days with Vince Strang and a handful of Africa Twins in the next week or two. I’m really looking forward to that. I think the Dominator must be ready, too. I haven’t spoken to Craig M for a week or so, but I think he was trying to tell me it was ready when we last spoke. I was kind of busy with work at the time, and when that’s happening I don’t always have a full grasp of the things I’m told.

So right now I just have to hammer into this next week, and I should be able to look forward to some premium riding straight after.

Hoo-bloody-ray, I say.

Today’s pic is from the media release of the Triumph 1200 Explorer last year. Triumph took us to a Barramundi farm near Cairns and we hooked some whoppers.
