Blog: October 23. Desk time

It’s Monday morning and raining gently.

I’m at that stage of my work cycle where I’ll be lucky if I get enough time away from desk to make a coffee. The next 10 days, weekend included, will be spent trying to finalise things and meet deadlines.

Last week though, I had to spend a day in Sydney. I occasionally drive down and back in a day, and while it’s a long day, I can usually handle it no problem. That’s partly because I always have my swag in the van and know I can pull up and have a good, comfortable sleep if I need to.

It’s a big luxurious swag, and I’ve had it for 20 years.

But the dog, apparently bored, chewed up my trusty, long-serving swag. Destroyed it. Reduced it to a gazillion little pieces of foam and shreds of canvas.

I’ve mentioned this dog in a previous blog, and some might recall he’s a big’n. He is, and he’s getting bigger every day.

Here he is trying to look innocent while I yell at him…

If you feel I’m stinging a bit at the loss of that swag, well, I am.

Back in the real world, I picked up the KLR after its top-end freshen-up, and it’s running like a dream. Every time Dan Vaughan works on a bike it feels like a million dollars. I haven’t had a chance to ride it yet, and probably won’t for the next week or two, but I’m looking forward to it.

It’s off to the Moto Expo in a few weeks…if it hasn’t been reduced chewed-up rubble…

Hmm. Don’t let the feigned drowsiness fool you. He’s a coiled spring ready to unleash destruction on anything and everything as soon as no-one’s looking.

Coming up in the next few weeks I’m looking forward to a ride on Ducati’s up-specced Multistrada 1200 Enduro, the Pro. I was very taken with the 1200, and Pro looks to be even more stylish and wild…

Even I’d look good on a bike like that!

I see a few of you have been out riding – lucky buggers – and have been enjoying yourselves and the great weather. Now we’ve had some rain it should be really awesome.

Hope to see you out there on the dirt somewhere soon.

TF

  1. what a cute ‘little’puppy, small dogs chew up slippers big dog swags apparently, don’t worry about the KLR, the van might be next

  2. What a great looking dog though, wolfhound in him?

  3. With the wild dog on the loose, it might be safer to leave the test bikes with me, poodles don’t wreck bikes

  4. Whats the old saying “bite off more then you can chew & chew like buggery”
